Every child deserves a permanent home that is affordable and safe to live in.
22K children under the age of 14 live in New York City homeless shelters. And 95% of families with children living in shelters are Black or Hispanic.
67% of households below the poverty line spend more than half of their income on rent.
1 in 3 rental households with children are overcrowded, with overcrowding disproportionately prevalent in immigrant communities.
A stable home is key to a child’s healthy development and well-being. However, record levels of children are experiencing housing insecurity. To ensure that every child has a safe and stable place to call home, we advocate for policy solutions that address the systemic drivers of family homelessness and promote access to affordable, stable housing for all families.
